The purpose of Self-defense techniques/Ho Sin Sul is to provide students with examples and options of how to free themselves from various situations that an attacker might use against you. The techniques demonstrated are the base level example of techniques one can use. These techniques should eventually be practiced in a way that simulates a real situation.
There are 30 official techniques in the WTSDA curriculum. Each set of 5 has a theme (front, back, double, etc) in order to prepare students for various types of scenarios. Students will learn a new set of 5 as the progress through each belt color.
A video playlist of all techniques is available here: Curriculum – Self-defense techniques
